Lessons

Woodwinds, brass, strings, percussion & more

Use this page when your student plays (or wants to play) a band or orchestra instrument—not when you are shopping only for voice, piano, or guitar, which each have their own entry points. Lessons are still private: one student, one teacher, same monthly billing rhythm. We split this out so families know to ask about roster and fit, not because the rules change.

Instruments you can ask about

Woodwind families often start with flute, clarinet, or saxophone; oboe and bassoon are possibilities when we have a teacher for that instrument on the roster.

Brass commonly includes trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone or euphonium, and tuba. Strings may include violin, viola, cello, or upright bass when we have a teaching match.

Percussion—such as snare, keyboard, or other concert-band setups—can be part of private study when we have a teaching match. Drum-set coaching may fall here or with your teacher’s specialty; ask when you inquire.

If your instrument is not spelled out here, contact us anyway. Rosters shift with enrollment, and we will give you a direct answer instead of leaving you to guess from a long menu.

Who these lessons are for

Beginners, students who need help keeping up in school band or orchestra, homeschoolers without a full program at home, and adults picking an instrument back up. Private lessons are for one player at a time, so the teacher can slow down, correct habits early, and assign work that fits your week.

Why openings depend on teacher and fit

Not every instructor teaches every instrument, and we do not promise a match we cannot staff. We check who is teaching your instrument this season, whether your student’s level lines up, and which lesson lengths we recommend. That keeps quality steady and avoids signing families up for a slot that is not really available.

What to send when you inquire

Call or email with the exact instrument (spelling matters for less common ones), the student’s age or grade, beginner versus returning player, any school band or rental details that help, and a few weekdays or times that usually work. We will reply with whether we have a teacher, what the first month typically looks like, or an honest ‘not right now’ with what to watch for next.
